Yesterday was Natalie's third month. She really changed a lot. She is almost a big baby now, and our interaction has been very pleasant recently. Natalie can listen to you, look at you and even speak to you.

Time goes by fast....
The last time I wrote a blog was the last week of September. And today is acctually Taiwan's "Viva la Indepedencia"

After two struggle days, Natalie finally start acting normal again. After Thursday's shots, Natalie started to show sign of fever. Yes FEVER. I wished I would never see this world again, but it was normal to have fever for the next 24 hours after babies get their shots (according to auty Jennifer)

Last night was the first time I gave Natalie a shower all by myself. In addition to this, I had to prepare everything which includes feeding and putting her to bed. Mommy had a ex co-worker dinner last night, since all mommy's co-worker wanted to see Natalie, so we took Natalie along. But because we didn't want to mess up Natalie night pattern, we decided to let daddy take Natalie home before 8:30PM and let mommy hang around with her ex co-workers. Thanks God everything went well, while driving back I had my left hand on the sterring wheel and right hand reaching back and holding Natalie's pasifier pushing into her mouth. Natalie than felt sleep on the way home. I also gave Natalie a warm shower and than feed her with 6.5 ounces of infant formula. Yes, it was a record feeding. Natalie was so hungry that she finished the 4.5 ounces real quick before she started crying for more. So I came downstair and prepared another 2 ounces while holding her on my arms.

Time does go by fast quick and Natalie is two month old now. She is very good interacting with people, she looks at you, she talks to you, she smiles with you and she like when people are around her. Neither to say, that she still cries when she is unhappy, but which baby doesn't? I just feel so bless to have Natalie in our life, I can't think of any other thing that is a greater accomplishment than having Natalie. Not even if I am making lots of money and be without Natalie. I have shared with Jen Mei what if? What if I did accepted the offer from my previous job after my General Manager quit his position? I am sure I would be getting a even greatter financial estability. But I wouldn't know if Jen Mei could be pregnant and having Natalie in our life. I am really having a great time with Natalie, thanks to mommy by making that possible because she is the one who is handling Natalie 24/7. I only need to share some of her load when she need some helps.

We had a milestone step yesterady because it was the first time Natalie slept all by herself in her crib in her room. from 10:30 PM to 6 AM. God really love us because we have witnessed Natalie's learining improvement every single moment of every day, and only God had made all this possible.

I did hope mommy will tell me yesterday when I got home that Natalie slept very well without daddy around. Unfortunately, Natalie woke up very early than previous days. One of the reasons was mommy try to lay Natalie to bed an hour earlier of her schedule; therefore, Natalie woke up around 3:30 AM. In addition to Monday night, last night Natalie did not have a good night sleep either and she constantly woke up during the night. I think it is because before she went to sleep mommy and I couldn’t help her burp, we tried for so long but still didn’t help.

Today was the second time we took Natalie to the mall. We wanted to take Natalie because she has behave good on Thursday. Moreover, we bumped into Jonah and his daddy and mommy. Except, we didn't see hannah because Hannah doesn't like to shop.

It's been two nights when we saw Natalie sleeping throught the night. It is a good sign in regards of Natalie sleeping pattern, something must be working. The last two night was the best night we had so far. Even though she is slepping from 10 or 11PM to 5AM, we believed this means a good start to sleep overnight. We will have to observe a couple of more days or even a week to determine if she can sleep overnight.

今天是第二次帶欣恩去逛百貨公司，我們帶她去是因為前天他表現的很乖。在逛街時也遇見了Jonah哥哥和Joanne阿姨跟Allen叔叔一家人只缺了Hannah姊姊，因為Hannah姊姊不喜歡逛街所以玫跟來。已經兩天欣恩有睡過夜了，雖然是從晚上十點十一點一較睡到早上五點，對我門來說是好的無比了。還需要再做觀察看看是否能夠持續下去。

We took Natalie yesterday to a near mall, it was also Natalie's first time shopping. Well, that was mommy's idea to go to the mall, and I assumed mommy is trying to build up Natalie's interest to shop. Oh boy... but either way, soon or later Natalie is still going to like shopping after all, she is a girl and has her mommy's genes in her.

Thanks to Kera's mommy and daddy, Natalie has a stroller to ride. She stayed very quite and later falling sleep in the stroller when we were walking at the mall. This whole experience has made mommy more confident to take Natalie out for more shopping.

 昨天我們帶欣恩去了百貨公司，這也是欣恩第一次到百貨公司去逛街。是仁玫媽咪提議要去逛的，我想媽咪是想要琣養欣恩對逛街的興趣罷了！金爸逼也不要太擔心，因為遲早欣恩也會愛逛街的‧‧‧就憑著欣恩有她媽咪的基因。感謝Kera姊姊的推車，欣恩能夠做在裡面乖乖的逛街。仁玫媽咪決得欣恩還漫能適應作推車所以打算很快的在帶欣恩來。

Not too many people showed up at church on Labor day Sunday. A half of our members went camping at Big Bear and one fourth of the members has chosen to stay home because of the heat wave. But not Natalie, she got ready dress up and came to church with mommy and daddy. It was amaizing how quiet Natalie was on Sunday, she chose to sleep the whole services. Maybe I need to shift my focus and think more possitive. I always anticipate the worse so I will be prepare when the worse come nocking on my door. But I have to admit, Natalie has improved and still is improving and fast. Mommy has dedicated this two weeks just to train Natalie to sleep overnight. When Natalie cries, mommy will try not feeding her but instead just patiently put Natalie badk to sleep. And I am trying what aunty Joanne has suggested, try to put Natalie down to her bed when she is almost falling sleep in my arm. Just repeat the step if she wakes up and cries. In addition to this, Grand Grandpa has tough me some trick of his own. He quote "In this stage Natalie need more visual and hearing practices, and if possible we should do both at the same time". Playing and talking at the same time is very crutial for Natalie now.

Back to Sunday's topic, Natalie has taken lots of pictures with Hannah. They looks so cute together, one is active and constanly moving and one is passive with a lot of patients. The character of the two are so different, I really look forward to watch them grow up together. And on labor day, I have invited uncle Bae and family to our house and play mah jon. Grand aunt said Natalie has grown a lot since she last saw her two weeks ago. Grand aunt also told me that his son my second uncle Brian saw Natalie's picture and he said Natalie looks like mommy. I am start to feel the pressure now, more and more poeple are saying that...

今天教會好少人哦！因為一半的人都上大熊胡熊去福音營去了。又有四分之一的人因為天氣太熱沒有來教會。欣恩真的好乖，不但有來教會還很乖乖的睡在安全椅裡面。金爸逼都不敢相信欣恩那麼的乖都沒有吵，但又想了一下我為什麼要不去相信！其實欣恩真的有進步好多好多，很多事都有在改變讓欣恩懂事了許多。仁玫媽咪有再式著訓練半夜不在起來謂奶了，只要哄她繼續睡。星期日欣恩有跟Hannah小姐姐照好多好多相片真的好可愛哦，一個是活潑亂跳另一個是安安靜靜的讓金爸逼照相。Brian表叔跟姑奶奶說欣恩好像仁玫媽咪哦！其實我發現越來越多人都開始這麼說了但大部份的朋友還是覺得欣恩比較像我。

Five years from now, maybe I would have plann something for this long weekend. But now, we are just hanging out at home and hope Natalie could be more depenedent to sleep overnight. After the whole ordeal of switching the bottle's nipples, mommy has suggested we go back and try Similac formula again. During the last two to three weeks, Natalie has been having Kirtland's formula. To be honest, all formula smell a little funny but Kirtland's formula smell funnier than Similac and Infamil. I have given Natalie Similac yesterday afternoon and the result... well, seems Natalie did not has as many stopage during feeding. But we will keep trying for at least couple more days before we can come to a conclusion. Moreover, since I always suspected that Natalie is having gas in he tummy, aunty Jennifer has suggested me MYLICON. I have asked aunty Margarete's opinion since aunty Jennifer told me that Curtis has used that before. I didn't waste any time to get Mylicon so I went straight to CVS to grab one. It's quite amaizing when you see the bobbles in the bottle disapear after dropping 03 ml of Mylicon into the formula. I do hope that Natalie's problem is gas, but we are also going to wait and see.

今天星期五是長週末的開始，很多人都會出遠們去玩但我們沒有計畫要出去，可能還要等個三五年後等欣恩大一點才會去計畫出去玩吧。因為欣恩喝奶不配合所以昨天仁玫媽咪要求用回Similac的奶粉式看看，說不定真的是奶粉的因素讓她不能好好的一口氣喝完。試驗之後是有喝的順暢一點但還是要多觀察幾天再說。我也去買了MYLICON幫助欣恩減少她肚子的氣。用了之後好像有好一點，但也是需要觀察觀察ㄋ。以下是很會跳舞的仁偉舅舅抱著欣恩的片段

It has been three days after we went to church, and we are having difficult feeding Natalie. She gets so angry when she is hungry. And we know she is hungry too but for some reason she just cry out loud, and when she is crying she can concentrate drinking her formula. Moreover, if she start to drink the formula after we calm her down, than she easily  fall to sleep and stop sucking. It took me more than an hour to feed her yestarday afternoon when mommy step out to go to bank. I was basically fighting with Natalie. Everytime she fall sleep I will put her back to her bed, but minutes later she will wake up again and crying because she is hungry or disconfort. So, back and forth back and forth...So I though the problem was the nipple from her bottle, Maybe Natalie is having hard time sucking the milk. Two days earlier I went to Target and bough the AVENT bottle nipple #2. According to that, it fits one month old babies and plus. However, didn't really seem to have work. And I went to Kyle mom's house to deliver the cake to, aunty Kumi game me two new bottle nipples from Gerber that normally Kyle likes, but Natalie seems to have a good grip on the nipple but milk doesn't come out fast enough.

We had a good time going back to church, it's like going back to your home after stepping aside for so long...Natalie has behave exceptionally well during the Sunday service. Therefore, church friends has a wrong perseption thinking she is a nice little lady to handle. Oh boy...

She was introduced to the congregation before singing her birthday song and cut her cake. Natalie was looking at pastor Livingstone the whole moment while pastor was talking. Daddy was very busy distributing cakes to friends and relatives that has help us during and after the pregnancy. After the service we acctually drop off cakes to uncle Dennis Lien and uncle Joseph Wu's family on the way to Lin's residence. Natalie spend a moment with Hannah taking pictures, even though Hannah was feeding at the time and later going upstairs to take her afternoon nap while Natalie at the other hand was hanging out with the rest of us. Before going home we decided to stop by Maxin Cafe to have dinner, we were hungry so did Natalie. Mommy just realized that everytime we take Natalie for lunch or dinner mommy had to feed Natalie too. Coincidence? I am not sure...

The night was so loooooooooooong. We didn't sleep until very late because Natalie was exceptionally not feeling well. Crying and crying and crying...non stop. Aunty Margarete has warned mommy to be ready for this Sunday, usually babies get fuzzy after visiting big crowded areas like church. That was yesterday, and today Natalie went to see her new pediatrician also Dr. Huang but a different one. Natalie now weights 10.03 lbs and had her first Hyp B shot. The funny thing is she didn't even notice when the nurse gave her the shot, she only felt the pain when the nurse pull out the needle. Soon Natalie will turn two month old and there are more shot to be taken when she gets two month of age.

今天欣恩在教會好乖哦！害的教會的叔叔和阿姨們都以為欣恩就是這樣乖巧不會哭的小孩。下午陪我們去送蛋糕的時也都表現的很好，連下午在Joanne阿姨家也不錯。可能是看到Hannah這麼乖所以要表現一下！金爸逼覺得好像是回到家一樣。帶著欣恩在台前切蛋糕覺得好被神祝福哦！回家前還去美心吃的晚餐然後最後又去仁玫媽咪姑姑家去送蛋糕，但因為欣恩出來的時間太久了所以開始吵鬧了一直到家都還在吵。我們業預料到了，因為欣恩第一次出去這麼長的時間又接觸到這麼多的人晚上一定會不好入睡。果真，我們度過了一個漫長的夜晚。今天欣恩業注射了她第一針，我們去早欣恩叔公介紹的小兒科黃醫生。欣恩現在有10.03磅。

Soon, we will be able to use a baby monitor in Natalie's room again. Uncle Denis and aunty Cindy was able to exchange for a new baby monitor yesterday. Uncle Denis said that aunty Cindy was coming to drop off the monitor last night but she never showed up. Daddy feels bad to call them and rush aunty Cindy to bring the monitor since she is only doing a favor. But we really needs the monitor beacuse it could be very convenience to us since both of us sometimes has to be in downstair. Daddy went to Chia-In to change oil and found out that both rear tires has nails in it. In addition, I need to change a new left rear tire because it is almost wear out. Chia-In has already place an order for the tires but only coming on Tuesday. Daddy was schedule to leave Monday to Bakersfield... I guess I have to re-schedule the trip.

One more day and we will be going to Church! Daddy went to Lin's residence to have a hair cut from aunty Jennifer. Daddy really need the hair cut because we are going to

 很快我們又會有嬰兒監視器了! 昨天馳偉表叔已經把壞調的機器拿去換了還說Cindy阿姨昨晚會拿來但是她可能忘了，所以還要再等到她拿來才可以在來使用它。在一天就要帶欣恩去教會了，到時候希望它能夠很乖。金爸逼也去Aunty Jennifer阿姨那剪過頭髮了準配去教會了見大夥。 

We are so proud of Natalie because she has behave very good when we took her out this morning. First, we went to request her birth certificate, than we went to have lunch at a western style cantonese (Shi-Ka) restaurant where Natalie drank her formula. And after that, we went to kiki Bakery to reserved lots of cakes to give to friends as a appreciation for their supports during and after the birth of Natalie.

Maybe it was a little too much for Natalie to go in and out with us, she couldn't really sleep in the afternoon anymore. Natalie actually vomited a when she was having her formula at night. It was the first and only time she vomit. It really scared mommy a bit since it was her first time, we weren't not sure if she wasn't feeling ok or it's from drinking her formula. So, we decided to gave her a nice bath to calm her down, we know she likes bath. I do hope Natalie is not sick, let's pray to God and allow the angels to protect our little Natalie through the night.

今天我們又出去了！這一回我們去幫欣恩辦出生紙，沒想到欣恩已經是沒國人了。接著又去了港式西餐吃中餐之後還去定了蛋糕是要在星期日送朋友跟家人的。今天晚上欣恩有吐，害的仁玫媽咪緊張了一下，不知道是太累了還是喝牛奶的關西。希望主耶穌能差遣天使天軍來保守欣恩

Yesterday was a busy day for us, it was a good experience taking Natalie out. The more repetition we do the better we could be. Same for Natalie, the more she sees the more she will learn and understand; she could be familiar with the outside world. Tomorrow is another day where we could take Natalie out because we have things to do, and I hope we could handle the task again. Last night uncle Paul has taught me how to do the links for the photos and videos into the blog. And today I got the chance to edited my blog with some links, pictures and videos. The blog seems to be more alive now with the additions! Let's wait for aunty Annie to finish to dress up the website. It should look fantastic...

Daddy has spend all day translating my blogs into Mandarine, at least make a summary of the contents into Mandarine. It wasn't easy since I didn't type Mandarine for a long long time. I used to type very fast but not anymore. Hopefully by doing this Natalie's grandparents and poeple who only ready mandarine could follow along with us.

昨天忙了一天，很高興能帶欣恩出去走走。每當欣恩能出去就代表欣恩有機會學習到更多新的東西，所以只要有機會我們就會帶她出去。

I am so proud of my baby! Today was acctually the first time Natalie went out with us. First was to see Dr. Chiang (mommy's doctor), than we went to have Cantonese breakfast, than we went shopping at Costco and finally we went to the Bank. Before we step out we though we had prepared everything in case Natalie wants to feed, to poo, to cry etc... In our first pitstop at Dr Chiang's office she started crying because she was hungry, so obviously we took the bottle out but did not find the formula!! WHERE WAS THE FORMULA? I told myself right at the moment..."Don't tell me that we have to go through what uncle Thomas and aunty Jennifer went through with Vera on the Souplantaiton incident". Luckly, mommy had the option of breastfeed her. I praised the Lord the Almighty who created women so they could breastfee babies. On the way heading home, she was crying unstopping because the diaper was super wet and spell out. Yes, it was huggie's diapers again... at noon Natalie also went with us and uncle Paul and aunty Annie to dim sum... even though she start to cry before we really finish our lunch but she already done a good job for the day. I hope today serves as a learning step for her, and looking forwards to do more. Natalie got a gift from daddy's customer friend Dennis and Betty and the whole crew at Empire Chrome wishes Natalie best ...on behalf of Natalie, thank you!

今天欣恩跟我們出去了一天，去了媽咪醫生的診所，去吃了早點，去了COSTCO還去了銀行。就這麼吃吃睡睡陪我們過了一天。還好媽咪能餵母奶因為我們忘了帶奶粉！下午又跟Paul叔叔跟Annie阿姨去飲茶。以下是幾個禮拜前一邊打咯一邊喝奶的片段

Yesterday we celebrated Natalie's first month Birthday. Natalie didn't feel like eating the cake so we took the honor to eat for her. Many pictures were taken, I am just waiting for uncle Paul to fix the server with the hosting department and we are ready to show! I thanks God again for making Natalie poo. Most of you might already read my preivous blog message that we were worry because Natalie didn't poo for more than 24hrs. She finally did last night, and all over her baby shirt. Yes, it was Huggies diaper. After we consumed all Huggies diaper we are going for Pampers or Kirtland. NO MORE HUGGIES for us...

 昨天慶祝了欣恩的滿月，我們大夥 (金把鼻仁玫媽咪仁偉舅舅JULIA舅媽馳偉表叔) 幫她吃了蛋糕。感謝主欣恩又有大大了！現在用的尿布(HUGGIES)真的不好，以後要改用其他的品牌了(PAMPERS 或 KIRTLAND)

Another Sunday both Natalie and Mommy and daddy will be going to church! 

Today is Natalie's first month birthday, by rule she should be at church celebrating with the whole congregation and cutting her full sheet cake. But because of her recent fever, we've decided to wait another week before we take Natalie to church. Non the less, daddy has bought a small cake so we can sing happy first  month birthday to Natalie tonight. We are thankful to see Natalie's progress, she is much much better than earlier this week. However, she has not poo poo yesterday and it's been more than 24 hours since. A newborn baby should at least poo once a day, but she is intaking nutritions but not outputing, therfore, this makes us worry again. I always heard people sharing that any mother in the world will always worries their child of any age to watch out when crossing a street. I learned from the moment I became parent, the worryness is endless...even when I gets old.

We have not be able to use our baby monitor in the pass two days because the monitor stop working for us. We tried to find the receipt but was unable to located. I just hope baby r us will let us return or exchange for a new one. The funny thing is that the monitor was a gift from uncle Denis and Cindy plus, they they also purchased a extended warranty. I don't know if they have any sort of recond kept in the credit card system, but I still want to try to exchange or ask uncle Denis to replace it for me.

I was not able to upload more Natalie's picture in the album. There is some kind of error when I try to upload from my system. Uncle Paul is fixing the problem for me and hope soon I will be able to upload more pictures. Funny thing is that my mother in law just asked mommy, why isn't daddy updating more pictures... and I also found that my parents also realized that I have not put more pictures. I guess it is grandparents nature to stick so closely and put attention to this kind of things.

在一個星期天就可以去教會了！今天星期日是欣恩滿月，但為了欣恩更能適應出外所以想要多等一個禮拜在去教會。希望欣恩能快快的能再大大，今天一天都沒大大了！有吃有睡就是沒大大‧‧‧等馳偉表叔送的夜間銀幕修好後就不會那麼不方便了。等PAUL叔叔幫忙把網站修好後就可以在上傳新的相片了！看看仁偉舅就在做什麼...

Today was one of Natalie best behaved day. She had a good rest, good feed, good all around. I really hope today is her breakthrough day. She already suffered too much for a month old baby. She ate quite well today, both Jen Mei and GrandAunt has given her pretty good amount of formula. In return, I bought Natalie a new swing from Baby R Us. The swing has 6 speed with 10 musics. I got to assemble the whole unit before dinner. I crossed my fingers and hope the swing can do some help, however, it didn't help much during dinner time. Natalie felt sleep for about 5 minutes and woke up crying again. I will return the swing only if Natalie really don't like. Florence has joined us for dinner tonight because she was here to take my aunt back home. I guess we already miss her. I still remembered perfectly when my aunt was leaving us in Taiwan to immigrate to Bolivia when I was only 4 years old. I had hold down to her legs and not let it go at the airport. My aunt still remembered and told me that at the side was my grandmother crying. I guess I had a special bonding with my aunt since very little and still am. We had a good time yesterday when Denis, his brother and his dad (my uncle) joined us for lunch and dinner. Even though Denis didn't do what he wanted which is play Mah-Jon with my aunt. I guess we still had a good time playing Wii with Daniel.

Natalie has slept from 10PM till now. I hope she can have a good rest and wake up a little later for feeding. Nice dream my sweetheart. Daddy and Mommy will always be here with you. Love you.

今天欣恩真的好乖好乖，有按時吃按時歲按時換布布。希望從今天起可以調回原來的作息！不知欣恩會不會喜歡她心的搖籃，若不喜歡我會在拿去退還。好想姑媽哦！FLORENCE表媽已經把她接回去了。我小時後湘君姑奶奶全家要移民去玻利維亞時金把鼻是在機場是緊緊的抓住姑媽的腿不讓他離開我的。但如經雖然不捨但還好每星期都見的到面。跟姑媽提起她也還記得此事，還說當時奶奶在旁邊哭的好厲害。

Maybe I am thinking too much, the truth is I don't think Natalie is feeling well. Even though last night was a very good night for the three of us, but not sure if she can repeat tonight. Mommy told me that Natalie was so fuzzy during the evening, couldn't get a real deep sleep. I can tell from mommy's voice that she was a little overwelmed. Thanks God, she is very possitive towards Natalie. At first I was the one telling her to be more patient so we could go throught this no matter what. It turned out that I was loosing my composure and  now she is the one that reminds me to be patient. I went online and did a through research for what is happening to Natalie. First was Dr. Huang's assumption that she is a colicky baby. Now I found something similar to colic, called reflux. In plaint word means, air get into babies digestive system either from crying a lot or having hard time to let go of her gas from her digestive system. It is also for babies who has milk protein allergy. Either one, it doesn't sounds good for a small baby like Natalie. I then found a natural medicine call colic calm. According to the websites testimonial. It helped many parents dealing with colic babies. I will probably call Dr. Huang tomorrow and ask him about this product. Jen Mei and I are still trying to calm her and put Natalie to sleep.

Anyways, the truth is we have to be very possitive about everything we face. Therefore, here is a short clip of Natalie's many hiccups...

 我的直覺還是覺得欣恩哪裡不舒服。但感謝主仁玫媽咪一真能夠不段的在欣恩身旁首望著，其實看的出來仁玫媽咪已經很類了。真希望相台爺爺月照奶奶或滿足外婆能夠在美國幫我們。醫生說欣恩可能有腹絞痛的現象，如過是的話就只能等她自然的康復了‧‧‧

Praise God! Natalie has slept very peaceful last night. Natalie only woke up once around 4AM, and went back to sleep after breastfeed. Before going to bed around 12AM, she was still very unconfortable or should I say fuzzy? We tried to feed her with Kirtland formula (first time) but we were not sure if she didn't like it or she was just unconfortable and fuzzy. But mommy did patiently and managed to finish feed her.

After not sleeping the earlier day plus played tennis with Brian (2nd Cousin) I was tired, however, I voluntier to stay with Natalie overnight but mommy insisted to let me rest since I am working. Mommy end it up staying with Natalie overnight. Praise God, everything work well. I had a nice rest so did mommy and Natalie too.

We were kind of worry last night that Natalie's uncle Daniel (Denis Chen's younger brother) and his dad (Denis father) didn't show up on the arrival terminal at Tom Bladley. Uncle Denis MSN to mommy and asked if this delay was normal. I had a feeling that immigration has delay their entrance to the US. In deed, this morning uncle Denis told me that they finally arrived home safe and they did encounter problem at the airport.

This morning natalie's Gran-Aunt told us that she is going home this coming Friday with Florence, since Jen Mei's one month recovery peiod is almost over. Boy o boy, we are going to miss her a very much if she leaves. Daddy remember back when I was a 4 years old, I cried a lot and hold my aunt's leg at the airport not letting her go when she was leaving us to immigrate to Bolivia.

感謝主欣恩昨晚睡的很好，半夜只起來的一次喝母奶而已。欣恩睡前還很不靜，一直哭鬧著所以很難入睡。一直鬧到十二點鐘仁玫媽咪堅持餵完母奶才睡著。仁玫媽咪真的好辛苦喔！昨晚因為美國海關刁難新聰舅公跟佳偉小表叔所以拖了一下才讓他們入境，害的馳為表叔緊張到打電話到家裡問我們。今天早上湘君姑奶奶說星期五就要回家了，聽了有點難過更是捨不得‧‧‧

• Blood test: A sample of the baby's blood is taken for a blood count (CBC) and blood culture. The CBC counts the different types of cells in the blood. The blood culture is a test to see if bacteria can be grown from the blood. If a baby does have an infection, bacteria usually grow in a culture within 2 to 3 days. If the test is negative (no bacteria grew) and the baby's symptoms go away quickly.

• Urine Test: A sample of the baby's urine is tested for signs of infection. Also may be taken for a culture test.
• Chest X-Ray: If a baby is having trouble breathing, a chest x-ray may be taken to look for signs of pneumonia. 
• Spinal Tap or Lumbar puncture The Doctor stays in one side drawing the fluid and the male nurse at the other side holding Natalie. A hollow needle is put into the space in Natalie’s back below the spinal cord and a small amount of spinal fluid is taken. The fluid is then tested for infections. We were asked for a written consent before the spinal tap is done. We were worry that putting a needle so close to the spinal cord will cause Natalie to become paralyzed. However, according to the research I made, there is almost no risk of paralysis because the needle is put into the space below the end of the spinal cord. When Dr. Grant (ER doctor) was drawing the spinal fluid, he also got a vain during the process. Therefore, when the result came out negative, Dr. Huang, Natalie’s pediatrician said that they didn’t do a clean tab. Moreover, he also said that both the blood and urine culture did not go well either. This was a three strike count to us.

• Not feed well. In Natalie’s case she could stay calm and go back to sleep.
• Be very sleepy, not wake up for feedings. Natalie was still feeding well.
• Be irritable, not settle down after feedings. It happened to Natalie
• breathe fast (over 60 breaths a minute)
• Have trouble keeping a normal temperature (a normal rectal temperature is 99.8°F, or 37.5°C) In Natalie’s case she experience 101.5 when we first notice her fever.
• Not act right, have a change in behavior.

• have pale or grayish skin
• work hard to breathe
• have a bluish color around the lips and mouth
• have a low body temperature despite normal wrapping with clothes or blankets (a rectal temperature under 98°F, or under 36°C)
• Have a high body temperature (a rectal temperature over 100.4°F, or over 38°C).

After the ER, Natalie than was taken to the pediatric and stayed there for three days for observation, evaluation and treatment. She was attached to a monitor, which continuously measures her heart rate, breathing and oxygen. This monitor is called a pulse oximeter.
